The Cleveland class of light cruisers is the largest class of cruisers the navy has ever completed. With 52 ships ordered, 29 completed as cruisers and 9 as CVL’s the Cleveland success can be attributed to being in construction at the time of the buildup for WWII. The first Cleveland joined the Navy in October of 1942 and a member of the class was present at all the major battles following. No cruiser member of the class was lost to enemy action and many saw service long into the 60’s when they were converted to the first missile ships of the era.

The YankeeModelworks kit contains a two piece hull, resin superstructure and white metal detail parts. Two comprehensive sheets of photoetch are also provided. The 34 page instruction manual contain 3D?rendering of all major construction steps as well as several high quality images of the ship to allow the modeler to add additional detail.

This kit depicts "Indy" from mid 1944 through may 1945. Indianapolis had one last refit in June 1945 and with a little work, the modeler can alter the kit so that she appears in her final configuration at the time of her loss in August 1945.

Indianapolis was 610ft in length, so he kit scales-out to 21 inches in length overall.

This kit is a complete overhaul of the ex Classic Warships kit. We have updated many parts to bring them more up-to-date and completely redesigned the photo-etch frets.

The kit contains resin, white metal, photo-etched parts, decals, plan and profile drawing, and instruction booklet.
